Madison scores 35 as Vandals ground Eagles

MOSCOW, Idaho – Katie Madison had game highs of 35 points and 15 rebounds Wednesday night to lead the Idaho Vandals to a 73-60 non-conference women’s basketball victory over the Eastern Washington Eagles at Cowan Spectrum.

Madison hit 13 of 17 shots from the floor and buried all nine of her free-throw opportunities. Jessica Summers added 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Vandals (2-3).

Joanna Chadd paced the Eagles (3-4) with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor. She was 3 of 9 from behind the 3-point arc.

Eastern trailed by one point at the half but went cold after the break. The Eagles shot 43 percent (13 of 30) in the first 20 minutes, but 28 percent (11 of 39) after that. Idaho hit 14 of 33 shots (42 percent) in the second half.

Katy Baker topped the Eagles with nine rebounds.
