Woman killed in crash identified

The Spokesman-Review

A woman killed in a crash Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 195 near Colfax has been identified as Stefanie Crawford, 31, of Moscow, Idaho.

Two children traveling in Crawford’s vehicle remain at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Mahri Crawford, 7, and 2-month-old Meadow Becker were taken by helicopter to Sacred Heart after the crash. Crawford remained in serious condition, and Becker was listed in critical condition Sunday evening, according to the hospital’s nursing supervisor.

The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. just south of Colfax when a 1998 Saturn sedan driven by Crawford went out of control on the icy highway, according to the Washington State Patrol. Crawford’s vehicle crossed the centerline and was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Suburban.

The driver of the Suburban, Eugene Pfeifer, 55, of Colfax, was injured and taken to Pullman Memorial Hospital, as was passenger Ron A. Robinson, 44, of Post Falls. Both men were released from the hospital.

Family of 6 missing after trip

Officials in Hood River County said they are searching for a family of six that never returned from a Christmas tree cutting trip Saturday.

Randy Kellems, his girlfriend Tam Warnecke and his four young children left home on Saturday morning to get a tree near the town of Dee.

The children are 4-year-old Madison, 7-year-old Emily, 9-year-old Autumn and 14-year old Jessica Kellems. Kellems’ mother said the group was expected back at 9 p.m. but never returned.

Hood River County Dispatchers said search crews covered the area near Lost Lake and Lolo Pass.

The search is complicated by snowfall in the area – more than 6 inches Saturday night alone.

The grandmother says she is particularly worried about one of the girls who is autistic and suffers from seizures but doesn’t have her medication with her.

The group was last seen in a gray Toyota Tundra with several signs that say “Pacific Communications” on it.
