Sabres victorious over Rangers in overtime
Chris Drury deflected in Teppo Numminen’s shot 1:36 into overtime and the Buffalo Sabres got back to winning on the road Sunday night with a 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers in New York.
Drury won a faceoff back to Numminen, who ripped a drive that Drury knocked past goalie Henrik Lundqvist.
Thomas Vanek posted a goal and an assist in fewer than 2 1/2 minutes of the second period, and Buffalo overcame two goals by Martin Straka to beat the Rangers for the third time.
The Sabres won both Madison Square Garden visits this season in overtime.
Lightning 3, Senators 1: At Tampa, Fla., Filip Kuba and Brad Richards scored 36 seconds apart midway through the second period, helping Tampa Bay beat Ottawa.
Johan Holmqvist made 22 saves for the Lightning, who have won three straight and seven of 10. The goalie made a sliding pad save on Joseph Corvo’s in-close shot in the second.
Ducks 5, Flames 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Teemu Selanne had two goals and Anaheim made things relatively easy for goalie Michael Wall in his NHL debut, limiting Calgary to 11 shots on net over the first two periods to get the victory.
