S-R, let go of Morrison

The Spokesman-Review

I think it’s time that Spokane and The Spokesman-Review start to wean itself from Adam Morrison.

Morrison was obviously a great player, and he brought a lot of excitement to the region’s sports fans. He’s gone now, but I’m beginning to think the sports section is turning into a bit of the Daily Adam Morrison Report.

What bothered me was the page layout on (Nov. 23), the morning after this year’s Zags knocked off No. 2 North Carolina. This was a huge story, but above the account of the game, at the top of the page, was a picture of Morrison, like we just can’t let him go.

To my mind, this in a subtle way diminished the Zags’ accomplishment, as if to say, “Yeah, yeah, that was a nice win for them, but we sure do miss Adam. Those were the days, weren’t they?”

New days are here that promise to be as exciting as the old.
