One killed, two injured in crash

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

One person was killed and two others remained in critical condition late Thursday as the result of a two-car collision shortly after noon in Pend Oreille County.

Oliver R. Beach, 65, of Usk, Wash., died when his southbound Dodge Caravan crossed the centerline of State Route 20 about three miles north of Newport, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Beach’s 1990 minivan collided head-on with a 1997 Nissan Sentra driven by Melody A. Fox, 57. She and her passenger, Vincent H. Fox, 52 – both of Usk – were airlifted in critical condition to Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane.

The crash remained under investigation by the Washington State Patrol, but officers said everyone involved had been wearing a seat belt.
