Palmer, Miners bury Blazers

Jordan Palmer threw for 447 yards and four touchdowns Friday to lead UTEP to a 36-17 victory over the UAB Blazers (3-7, 2-4 CUSA) in Birmingham, Ala.

Johnnie Higgins caught nine passes and scored three touchdowns for UTEP (5-5, 3-3).

The Miners finished with 456 total yards, all but nine coming through the air.

Palmer completed 24 of 38 passes and Higgins had 173 receiving yards.

Central Michigan 31, Western Michigan 7: At Mount Pleasant, Mich., Marcel Archer rushed for three touchdowns to propel the Chippawas (7-3, 6-0) to their first Mid-American Conference West Division title with a win over the Broncos (7-3, 5-2).
