Shock topple Sun in OT

Katie Smith scored 23 points, including a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of regulation, to lead the Detroit Shock to a 77-73 overtime win Saturday against the Connecticut Sun in Uncasville, Conn.

Detroit went on a 5-1 run in the final 15.3 seconds of regulation and scored the first six points in overtime to pull away.

The Sun had a chance to put the game away before the extra session but missed two free throws in the final 15 seconds.

Mystics 90, Lynx 75: Alana Beard scored 25 points, and Latasha Byears added 20 and keyed a big first-half run that gave the Mystics the lead for good on the way to a victory over Minnesota in Washington.

Beard was 10 for 16 from the field.

Seimone Augustus led the winless Lynx with 23 points.
