Bird walk – A member of the Audubon Society will lead a bird walk at the Turnbull Wildlife Refuge, 9 a.m.-noon Saturday. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and cameras. Donations will be accepted. Call (509) 328-0621 or (509) 359-7050 to register.

Crime awareness meetings – The community is invited to town meetings on neighborhood crime, 2 and 6 p.m. Wednesday at Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave. Guests include Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich and Senator Brad Benson. World War I study project – A series of documentaries and discussions begins with “The Road to War” at 11:30 a.m. next Thursday in the SCC Learning Resources Center, 1810 N. Greene; (509) 533-8822.

ChalkArtWalk – ninth annual chalk drawing contest on the sidewalks of Hillyard. Registration begins at 10 a.m. June 3 in the Hillyard Square at Market and Queen. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 registrants. This year’s theme is “Magic.” Chalk will be provided for those who don’t have any; (509) 475-3509.
