Fire prevention meeting tonight

The Spokane Valley Fire Department and Fire District No. 8 will hold a fire prevention meeting for residents of the Ponderosa neighborhood tonight.

At 7 p.m. at Ponderosa Elementary School, 10105 E. Cimmaron Drive, fire officials will discuss emergency preparation and making homes safer.

Experts from fire departments, the city of Spokane Valley, the Red Cross and other agencies are scheduled to answer questions and discuss safety issues. Topics include evacuation plans for local schools, protecting animals in the event of an emergency and ways homeowners can make their houses less susceptible to fires.
