Boys golf
•District 8 4A tournament: Shadle Park’s Tyler Nelson shot an even-par round of 70 at The Creek at Qualchan and is the leader after the first of two rounds. Chris Meyer of Mt. Spokane had a hole-in-one at the 142-yard No. 7. The top 32 competitors advanced to Thursday’s final round at Liberty Lake, where the top eight will advance to state.
•District 8 3A tournament: Clarkston’s Joel Dahmen is the district champion after firing a 2-under-par round of 70 at The Creek at Qualchan. Clarkston was also the team champ. Competitors move on to the regional tournament with the Mid-Valley League Monday at Indian Canyon Golf Course.
Girls golf
•District 8 3A tournament: Alicia Jelinek of Clarkston is the district champion with a score of 90 at The Links Golf Course in Post Falls. The Bantams had the top four finishers at the par-72 course. All competitors will go to the regional tournament with the Mid-Valley League Monday at MeadowWood Golf Course.
Softball
•Panorama League playoffs: St. Michael’s topped St. George’s (10-11) in a loser-out game at Springdale to move on to play the No. 4 Chargers. Springdale routed the Warriors (8-11) 11-1 in five innings. Amanda Krieg threw a no-hitter and didn’t allow an earned run for the Chargers (16-5). Both teams advanced to Saturday’s round at Kettle Falls. Springdale will face No. 1 Inchelium, and St. Michael’s will play the loser of Saturday’s Selkirk-Curlew game. … Northport beat Republic (8-13) in a loser-out game at Ione to earn a matchup with the No. 3 Selkirk Rangers. Host Selkirk then rolled to a 10-0 win over the Mustangs (9-13) in five innings. Heather Pope threw a three-hit shutout and finished 4 for 4 with two RBIs for the Rangers (17-4). Selkirk will meet No. 2 Inchelium Saturday, and Northport will play the Springdale-Inchelium loser.
•Whitman County League playoffs at Colfax: Colton secured the league championship with a 6-3 win over Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia. Cara Broderick drove in the go-ahead runs with a two-run fourth-inning single for the Wildcats (16-1). Colton will host the No. 4 seed from the Blue Mountain Conference Tuesday. T-O/R (13-9) defeated Garfield-Palouse 8-5 in the semifinal game and will host the BMC No. 3. Garfield-Palouse (15-7) topped Asotin 9-6 to earn the third seed and a trip to the BMC’s second seed. Asotin (11-12) won loser-out games against St. John Endicott (0-21) 11-1 and LaCrosse-Washtucna (9-12) 6-4 to make it to the third-place game. The Panthers will visit the BMC No. 1 seed.
•Bi-County League tiebreaker: Odessa earned the No. 1 seed to the league tournament with an 8-7 win over visiting Davenport (16-5). Katie Nelson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Jenny Harp added two this and two RBIs for the Tigers (19-1), who will host Wilbur-Creston Thursday.
