NIC wrestlers sign with 4-year schools
Four more North Idaho College wrestlers are moving on to compete at four-year schools.
Joe Vanaman and Charles Boyko have signed with Portland State, NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. Vanaman, from Fife, Wash., was primarily a backup behind Coby Jones at 149 pounds and Boyko, of Kelso, Wash., backed up Heinrich Barnes at 141. Jones and Barnes were NJCAA All-Americans.
Tyson Hurst, who placed fifth at nationals at 157, and Jack Carney, who saw time as a starter at 157, have signed with Montana State-Northern, Whitcomb said. Hurst is a West Valley High graduate. Carney is from Sleetmute, Alaska.
NIC’s Josh Edmondson (Tennessee-Chattanooga) and Jeff Hedges (North Carolina-Greensboro) previously announced their commitments.
