“Greater Spokane League: Caleb Rath delivered a no-hitter while striking out 13, as first-place Ferris recorded a 5-0 win over host North Central (10-8, 10-7) on Wednesday. Rath also went 2 for 4, including a bases-clearing triple in the seventh to clinch the win for the Saxons (16-2, 15-2). … Niko Sotolongo broke a 1-all tie with a two-run homer in the sixth as Mt. Spokane won 6-2 over visiting West Valley (12-5, 12-5). Bryan Raynor added three hits and a pair of RBIs for the Wildcats (12-5, 12-5). … Anthony Via knocked in Bryan Karwacki on a sacrifice fly in the fourth to put Gonzaga Prep (9-10, 8-9) up for good in a 3-2 win over visiting Rogers (3-16, 1-16). … Adam Smith went 4 for 4 with two runs and six RBIs as University cruised to a 12-4 win at Mead (12-6, 12-5). Smith recorded a three-run triple in the third to spark a six-run inning for the Titans (15-4, 14-3), who remain behind only Ferris in the standings. … Todd Matsuda and Brady Brunelle combined for five hits, six runs and six RBIs as East Valley (7-10, 7-10) posted an 11-4 win at Shadle Park (3-16, 1-16).

Great Northern League: Tyler Proszek had a pair of hits and four RBIs as Chewelah (3-15, 3-15) won 9-7 in the first game of a doubleheader at Pullman. Chris Snyder had three hits, four RBIs, and picked up the win as the Greyhounds (13-5, 11-5) rebounded past the Cougars 10-2 in the late game.

Softball

“Great Northern League: Bri Fischer struck out eight while giving up two hits as Pullman notched a 2-1 win over visiting Riverside (4-8, 1-5) in the first game of a doubleheader. Alyssa Garro and Jamie Thornton combined for four hits and five RBIs as the Greyhounds (10-5, 6-2) rolled to a 10-2 win in the second game.

Boys tennis

“Greater Spokane League: Whitman Hough controlled the match from beginning to end in a 6-1, 6-2 No. 1 singles win over Jon Assmus as Ferris defeated host Mt. Spokane 5-2 to clinch the league championship and end the Wildcats’ three-year reign at the top. Druw Smith and Bryan Ager squeaked by 7-5 in the third set for a No. 1 doubles win over the Mt. Spokane duo of John Maccini and Win Mooboravit.

Girls tennis

“Greater Spokane League: Katie Griffith defeated Mikaela Peterson 6-1, 6-1 to cap off an undefeated season in No. 1 singles, sparking host Ferris in a 5-2 win over Gonzaga Prep for its first championship in 10 years. Twin sisters Michelle and Christy Curtis also put the finishing touches on an undefeated season with a 2-6, 6-0, 6-4 win over the Bullpups tandem of Liz Harden and Amber Rypien. In the closest match of the day, Ferris’ Christina Berg had a pair of 7-5 wins over G-Prep’s Amy Esmay in No. 2 singles.
