Tigers 6, Twins 0: At Detroit, Kenny Rogers and Todd Jones combined on a two-hitter, with Jones pitching a perfect ninth for the Tigers, who outscored Minnesota 33-1 in the series and completed a three-game sweep of the Twins for the first time since April 2002.

Yankees 4, Blue Jays 1: At New York, Jason Giambi hit a two-run homer, and Mike Mussina allowed one run and seven hits in six innings for the Yankees, striking out seven.

Devil Rays 5, Red Sox 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Tampa Bay’s Scott Kazmir struck out 10 in seven innings, allowing two runs and five hits in his second win over Boston this year.

Athletics 13, Royals 6: At Kansas City, Mo., Nick Swisher hit his 10th homer and drove in four runs to lead Oakland. Eric Chavez and Dan Johnson also homered for the Athletics, which won for the 12th straight time at Kansas City.

White Sox 6, Angels 5: At Anaheim, Calif., Pablo Ozuna scored the go-ahead run on Scot Shields’ ninth-inning wild pitch, and Chicago beat Los Angeles for a three-game sweep of the team the White Sox defeated in last year’s A.L. championship series.

Rangers 8, Indians 4: At Cleveland, Michael Young and Phil Nevin each drove in two runs during Texas’ six-run seventh inning to lead the Rangers past the Indians. After Young’s single tied the score, Mark Teixeira doubled home the go-ahead run against Jason Davis.
