Rev. William Hemenway returned to Christ the King Lutheran Church on Feb. 1 and is serving as the interim pastor during the call process for a new senior pastor.

The Rev. Hemenway formerly served as the senior pastor at CTK from 1975 to 1994 and then served at Christ Lutheran Church in Costa Mesa, Calif., until his retirement in December. For the first time in the 50-year history of CTK, the church found itself without a full-time pastor last fall after senior pastor Rev. John Schmidt accepted a position in Colby, Kan. CTK associate pastor Rev. Tige Culbertson left the church last spring to serve in San Antonio.

Hemenway’s wife, Sue, is a schoolteacher in California and will join him in Coeur d’Alene after her retirement in June.
