Love goes from first to missing cut at TPC
Davis Love III thought he had a chance to make history at The Players Championship at Ponte Vedre, Fla. This wasn’t what anyone imagined – a two-time champion losing a share of the lead Friday until there was nowhere to go but home.
In a turnaround that was shocking even by Sawgrass standards, Love was 18 shots worse than his opening round and entered the PGA Tour record books as the only player in the 33-year history of its showcase event go from first to the weekend off.
Love took a quadruple-bogey 9 on his final hole for an 11-over-par 83, missing the cut by four shots.
Jim Furyk, the co-leader after the first round, kept his nose in front with a 1-under 71 for 136 and a one-shot lead over Adam Scott and Stephen Ames.
Twenty-five players were within five shots of the lead, including Tiger Woods, who shot 69.

Two-time champs advance to NCAA final
Bobbi Ross scored four goals and two-time defending NCAA champion Minnesota beat top-ranked New Hampshire 5-4 to advance to the title game in the women’s Frozen Four in Minneapolis.
With the victory, Minnesota ended New Hampshire’s NCAA-record unbeaten streak at 29 games. The Wildcats were 28-0-1 during the run.
Ross’ goal with 1:51 remaining broke a tie and gave Minnesota (29-10-1) a chance to win a third NCAA championship. In the other semifinal, Wisconsin beat St. Lawrence 1-0.

IRL, Champ Car talk about reunification
The rift that has scarred the popularity and prestige of American open-wheel racing for more than a decade may finally be on the mend, with the heads of the rival IRL and Champ Car World Series confirming they are talking about unification.
Indy Racing League founder Tony George and Kevin Kalkhoven, co-owner of the Champ Car World Series, have recently struck up a friendship that has led to the informal talks.
“I think (an agreement) is certainly possible, but I think we’re a long way from there at this point,” George said.
