Froman, Edwards lead Whitworth to win over Cal State East Bay

Whitworth picked up an 8-4 win over Cal State East Bay in the first of two non-conference women’s softball games Wednesday at Orange, Calif.

Sarah Froman went 2 for 3 in the contest, including a home run. She also recorded four RBIs and scored two runs. Mandee Edwards also hit a homer, while scoring one run and picking up three RBIs.

In a later game, the Pirates couldn’t figure out Chapman’s starting pitcher in an 8-0 loss.

•North Idaho found its offensive punch and delivered wins of 14-2 and 11-1 over visiting Walla Walla.

Men’s Golf

Whitworth finished the Cal Lutheran Invitational with a three-day total of 983, good enough for 11th place at the par-72 La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, Calif.

Andrew Parrott was the low Whitworth shooter at 240. He was followed by Jordan Carter (243), Bobby Elder (245), James Dykes (255), and Sean Thompson (250).

University of Redlands shot a team score of 926 to win the tournament.

Brent Peterson of Cal Lutheran took medalist honors with a 224.
