Dorothy Dean Favorite

The Spokesman-Review

Margery Wade said one of her favorite Dorothy Dean recipes is a Bundt cake that starts with a boxed cake mix. Here is her favorite recipe for Double Chocolate Cake:

Double Chocolate Cake

1 package chocolate cake mix

1 (4 1/2-ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix

1 cup water

1/2 cup oil

4 eggs

1 teaspoon instant coffee or vanilla

1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips

Place cake mix, pudding mix, water, oil, eggs and instant coffee in a large mixer bowl. Blend ingredients on low speed. Turn to medium speed; beat 4 minutes.

Spoon half the batter into greased and floured 9-inch tube pan; cover with chocolate chips. Spoon remaining batter over chips.

Bake at 375 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes. Remove from pan and complete cooling on rack. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.

Yield: 1 (9-inch) cake, about 12 servings
