LSU runs past Huskies

LSU was at its best for less than 15 minutes Monday night – and that was enough to blowout Washington.

Seimone Augustus scored 26 points and top-seeded LSU broke open a tight game with a big second-half run, beating Washington 72-49 in the second round of the women’s NCAA tournament in Nashville, Tenn.

The Lady Tigers (29-3) advanced to their fourth straight regional semifinal and 10th overall, but that’s not the goal this season for a program that reached the Final Four each of the past two years only to come up short of the national championship game.

Ninth-seeded Washington (19-11) tried to pull off a second straight upset to reach a regional semifinal for the fourth time in school history and first since 2001.
