Community education classes offered

There’s still room to enroll in several community education classes focused on basket weaving and a natural approach to treating children’s health problems offered through the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center in Post Falls this month.

•”Random Weave Basket” will be offered in one session from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. next Saturday at the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls. Participants will make an organic basket in a nontraditional style of weaving in which a random weave includes elements of both warp (spokes) and weft (weaver). The class will be taught by Carol Combes, who has been weaving baskets for 19 years in addition to exhibiting work in galleries throughout the Northwest. The course fee is $39.

•”Kids in Crisis” will be offered in one session from 7 to 9 p.m. March 29, also at the Workforce Training Center. The course will cover why children are in crisis today by exploring health issues, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, diabetes, frequent colds and flu, allergies, asthma, autism, obesity and digestive issues. The course will examine the causes of these health problems and how to resolve or control them with natural means. The class will be taught by Holly Carling, a doctor of Oriental medicine, licensed acupuncturist and doctor of naturopathy, master herbologist and clinical nutritionist. The fee is $13.
