Comparison shop on Web for travel insurance
Q. We’re planning a ski trip to Chile this year. We have elderly parents and worry about canceling the trip if one of them falls ill. Can you offer good resources for travel insurance?
A. You might want to start with some comparison shopping at Web sites such as Insuremytrip.com or Squaremouth.com. They’re aggregators, or brokers, that allow you to compare policies, obtain pricing information and ask questions about the companies they represent. Insuremytrip.com, for example, includes major U.S. carriers such as Travel Guard and Access America.
The cost of a policy is usually based on the traveler’s age, the cost of the trip and the length of travel.
