‘Radical Forgiveness’

Colin Tipping, author of “Radical Forgiveness,” will speak Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St. He also will give a workshop next Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tipping will talk about clearing your consciousness of negative influences and will discuss forgiving those who have hurt you.

The cost is $15 for the Friday night speech and $125 for the workshop Saturday.

Lenten Prayer

The Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., is offering Wednesday Lenten prayer services starting Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Next week’s service will feature James Dallen, a Roman Catholic priest and a member of the Religious Studies Department at Gonzaga University. It will include “Night Prayer” from the “New Zealand Prayer Book.”

Buddhist speaker

Padma Ling Buddhist Center, 1014 W. Seventh Ave., is presenting speaker Khentrul Lodro Thaye Rinpoche at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today and Sunday.

Rinpoche, the abbot of Mardo Gashi Choling in Tibet, will speak about “Seven Point Mind Training.”

Admission is $10 per session, or $40 to attend all sessions.

Housewarming events

St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9706 N. Division St., is presenting a concert Sunday at 6:30 p.m. as part of a celebration to dedicate the church’s new multipurpose facility.

The evening will include Irish dancers, a jazz combo, African drummers and piano and vocal performances.

The church is also offering a housewarming barbecue and country dance March 12 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be catered by O’Doherty’s.

Tickets are for sale until Sunday. The cost is $10.95 for adults, $7.50 for youth ages 11 through 17 and $4.95 for children 5 through 10, with those 4 and younger admitted free.

Israeli hospital fund-raiser

The Interfaith Council and the Spokane Chapter of Hadassah are hosting a benefit for the pediatric department of Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem on Sunday at noon at the Manito Golf and Country Club.

Dr. Mary Noble will receive the National Leadership Award at the luncheon, and Dr. Hrair Garabedian will receive the Myrtle Wreath Award for community service. An Israeli physician from the hospital will speak.

Speakers, study groups

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St., is presenting Father Christodoulos from the Monastery of Archangel Michael in Tharri, Rhodes, today at 7:30 p.m. in observation of the beginning of Lent in the Orthodox church.

Christodoulos will speak on the subject of joy and also will participate in the church’s liturgy on Sunday.

Mission Community Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave., is presenting a six-week study group starting Sunday at 9 a.m.

“Muffins With the Master,” led by Pastor Carol Williams and Georgette Thornton, will discuss simplifying your life and making room for a spiritual journey.

The sessions will include muffins, fruit and beverages.

Unity Church of Spokane, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting Gary Renard, author of “Disappearance of the Universe,” today from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Renard will speak about his book and also will discuss miracles and spirituality.
