City Hall to close for funeral

The Spokesman-Review

Spokane Valley City Hall will close part of Friday to mark the death of Mary Baslington, who had worked for the city since its incorporation and died June 15.

“Mary was a very outgoing person,” said City Manager Dave Mercier, who described her as well known and well liked within the organization.

Baslington, 46, originally worked as an administrative assistant on an interim team that helped to establish the city after voters chose to incorporate in 2002. Most recently she worked in the city’s finance department.

She was a lifelong Spokane-area resident and graduated from Ferris High School in 1978.

City offices will be closed from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a memorial service at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
