Olive Branch offers assortment of decorating items

There’s an aroma inside Olive Branch Home Décor, one that’s hard to pinpoint but is still comforting.
It probably comes from the wide assortment of scented candles or the potpourri scattered about the store, which is also filled with hundreds of small interior decorating items and some larger pieces of furniture.
“We like to keep things fresh and different from the other stores. Each store has its own flavor,” said Heather Nelson, owner of the store.
“It’s one of those things where you have to see it.”
Olive Branch Home Décor has been open for about two months and carries a “nice blend” of products, Nelson said.
“There are pieces that will go with many different styles,” she said.
Currently the store is featuring items in the Tuscany style. Many of the products have a down-home feel to them, she said.
“We tend to appeal to a lot of people who are more traditional with their decorating than whimsical,” Nelson said.
Sprinkled throughout the store are bits of Scripture for people to read.
“We hope somebody will be able to walk away and feel uplifted,” Nelson said.
Opening the store has been interesting and exciting, she said. The arrival of new shipments seems almost like Christmas, she said.
Before opening the store, Nelson worked for the Navy and also was a stay-at-home mom for many years.
“It’s a lot of fun, and it’s been a blast,” Nelson said.
One of the best parts is watching customers enjoy shopping, she said.
“We like to listen to the women giggle as they walk through the store.”
Salon closure
Next door to Olive Branch Home Décor, the Kids Cuts salon closed down. An owner could not be reached for comment.
