Several ferry workers refuse to talk in sinking probe

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

VICTORIA, British Columbia – B.C. Ferries will suspend and possibly fire a handful of crew who were working on the Queen of the North the night it sank off the coast of British Columbia because they have refused to participate in an investigation, the company said.

Fewer than four people have refused to answer questions for the company investigation, said CEO David Hahn.

He refused to say whether these crew members are critical to the investigation.

Two passengers are missing and presumed drowned in the loss of the vessel, which went off course March 22 and hit rocks off Gil Island.

The Transportation Safety Board, Transport Canada, B.C. Ferries and the RCMP are investigating the incident.
