Kick up some dust at Hillyard ChalkArtWalk

The Spokesman-Review

The sidewalks on the northeast corner of Market Street and Queen Avenue in Hillyard will be transformed into colorful masterpieces on Saturday for the ninth annual ChalkArtWalk.

The Hillyard Festival Association has selected “Magic” as this year’s theme.

The free event is open to everyone and will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Entertainment begins at 11:30 a.m.

Each contestant in the chalk-art competition will be assigned a sidewalk square and given chalk, although artists are encouraged to bring their own chalk. Artists do not have to be present for the judging.

Artists can enter online at www.historic-hillyard.com. The first 100 people to register will receive a free T-shirt at the Hillyard Festival booth.

The winner of Best of Show will get $100 and a framed picture of their creation, to be featured on next year’s T-shirt.
