Saints sign Bush

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

Reggie Bush agreed to a six-year deal with the New Orleans Saints on Saturday night and will report to training camp today, the Associated Press has learned.

A source with direct knowledge of the negotiations said the deal had been agreed to, but that he couldn’t disclose financial terms.

Reached by phone at his home in New York, Bush’s agent, Joel Segal, said he wouldn’t comment until a deal had been signed. However, he said he was traveling to Jackson, Miss. today to meet with Bush and the Saints.

Culpepper optimistic

New Dolphins’ quarterback Dante Culpepper took the field for the start of training camp, nine months after a right knee injury ended his 2005 season.

“So far, everything is a thumbs-up,” Culpepper said. “I still have visions to be ready for the first game.”

Martin still a question

It’s not quite clear whether Curtis Martin will get the chance to move up the all-time rushing list because the Jets aren’t talking about the condition of his knee, but he is out of practice. Last year was the first time the 33-year-old failed to gain 1,000 or more yards in his 11 seasons.

Suspended LB absent

Bengal linebacker Odell Thurman failed to show up for training camp. The team was notified last week he will be suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy but is still eligible to participate in training camp.
