RiverCity Academy plans open houses

RiverCity Academy will have an open house at 6 p.m. Thursday and again Aug. 17 in the Millwood school board room, 8818 E. Grace Ave.

The fully accredited school is a West Valley School District program serving Spokane youth in grades nine through 12.

The academy is the first project-based high school in Washington state to utilize a hands-on approach to learning developed by the EdVisions Co-op ( http://www.edvisions.coop/).

Students share common wilderness experiences, use applied technology and create their own projects according to individual interests.

The student projects provide individualized WASL preparation.

Parent and student’s questions regarding fall 2006 registration will be answered at the open house. Interested students may sign up for an entrance interview with the advisers after the meeting. Call 869-2487 for more information.
