Tigers 9, Indians 7: At Cleveland, Jeremy Bonderman lasted just five innings but remained unbeaten on the road this season as Detroit got off to another fast start and held on for a win over the Indians.

Twins 7, White Sox 4: At Chicago, Joe Mauer hit a three-run homer, Michael Cuddyer and Justin Morneau also connected and Brad Radke pitched six solid innings to lead Minnesota past the White Sox.

Yankees 6, Rangers 2: At Arlington, Texas, Randy Johnson struck out seven, slumping Alex Rodriguez snapped an 0-for-11 streak with two hits and turned in a solid defensive performance with an error-free game, and New York defeated Texas.

Red Sox 7, Athletics 3: At Oakland, David Ortiz hit his major league-leading 34th home run, Manny Ramirez added a three-run shot to Alex Gonzales’ solo homer to help Josh Beckett become baseball’s first 13-game winner as Boston beat the Athletics.

Angels 8, Devil Rays 4: At St. Petersburg, Fla., John Lackey allowed five hits and four runs, two of them earned, in eight innings, Adam Kennedy drove in three runs and Juan Rivera homered for the ninth time this month leading Los Angeles past Tampa Bay.
