Twins 3, Indians 1: At Cleveland, Justin Morneau had a two-run single and rookie Francisco Liriano struck out 10 in five innings as Minnesota tied a 40-year-old team record with 17 strikeouts in the victory over Cleveland. The total tied the Twins’ record for pitchers set May 6, 1966.

White Sox 5, Rangers 0: At Chicago, Jon Garland pitched 8 1/3 shutout innings, Tadahito Iguchi hit a two-run homer, and Scott Podsednik hit a homer as the White Sox beat Texas to snap a four-game losing streak and avoid a sweep.

Orioles 4, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Erik Bedard pitched seven strong innings to win his seventh consecutive start, Javy Lopez homered, and Melvin Mora hit a tiebreaking RBI single during a two-run eighth inning as Baltimore beat Tampa Bay.

Tigers 8, Athletics 4: At Detroit, Carlos Guillen tripled, doubled, singled, and drove in two runs, leading Nate Robertson and the Tigers to a victory over Oakland.

Angels 3, Royals 1: At Kansas City, Mo., Jered Weaver (1.15 ERA) became the first rookie in 25 years to win his first seven starts and Robb Quinlan had a two-run single in the fourth inning, giving Los Angeles the victory over Kansas City.

Blue Jays 13, Yankees 5: At Toronto, Vernon Wells hit two of Toronto’s five homers and Troy Glaus, Eric Hinske and Reed Johnson all homered in an eight-run third inning in the victory over New York.
