Guest hosts taking turns on ‘View’

From Wire Reports The Spokesman-Review

A parade of fresh faces is winding through the set of “The View,” where Star Jones Reynolds sat until her abrupt departure last week.

Monday’s guest co-host on the ABC daytime talk show will be Carrie Ann Inaba, a choreographer who was a judge on the network’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Kelly Monaco, the “General Hospital” actress who took top honors on the first season of “Dancing with the Stars,” steps in on Tuesday.

Also on tap: “American Idol” runner-up Katharine McPhee on July 19, and actress Shannen Doherty on July 31 and Aug. 1.

They follow this week’s revolving-door co-hosts, including two appearances by singer/actress Brandy.

“The View” isn’t trying out replacements for Reynolds this summer; that will be done after Rosie O’Donnell makes her debut in September, replacing the previously departed Meredith Vieria, a show spokesman said.

But some of the women appearing now may be considered for the permanent job, he added.

The cast is in place for the final season of “The Sopranos” – until somebody gets whacked, anyway.

HBO has reached contract deals with Tony Sirico, who plays Paulie Walnuts, and Steven Van Zandt, who plays Silvio Dante. They were the last remaining major cast members to be signed.

“The Sopranos” concluded its most recent season in June, getting mixed reviews from critics and seeing its ratings decline. The eight final episodes will begin airing in January.

Old ‘Vice’ returns

“Miami Vice” is returning to NBC. The network will air the two-hour series pilot July 22, interspersing it with behind-the-scenes footage from the new movie based on the show, which hits theaters the following week. Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, who star in the film, will host the event.
