Sportsmen hold wild-game feed

The Spokesman-Review

Mike Beagle of Trout Unlimited will speak on hunting and angling in the backcountry during a free potluck wild-game dinner Feb. 10 to kick off a new local group called the Hunting and Fishing Conservation Coalition.

The dinner and program will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council building, 6116 N. Market.

The new coalition plans to bring conservation and sportsmen groups together on common-ground causes to protect the Inland Northwest’s outdoor heritage and fish and wildlife habitat, said Derrick Knowles, co-organizer.

Beagle, of Eagle Point, Ore., is the founder of a non-profit group called Backcountry Hunters and Anglers (www.backcountryhunters. org). The former Army field artillery officer taught history and coached football and baseball in Oregon high schools for 15 years. He is the Oregon and Washington Field Coordinator for Trout Unlimited ( www.tu.org).

All interested sportsmen and sportswomen are invited to the wild-game dinner. Pre-register with Knowles at dknowles@ conservationnw or 435-1270.
