Late layup lifts Mavs to victory

Associated Press

Devin Harris made an easy layup with 2.2 seconds left in overtime Friday to lift the visiting Dallas Mavericks to a 114-112 win over the Denver Nuggets.

On the inbound play after a timeout, Harris moved through several picks, got free from Andre Miller, then scooted toward the basket and found himself wide open, taking a pass from Josh Howard and easily making the winning layup.

It wasn’t the way anyone would have expected the game to end, especially with the way Denver stayed alive – first on Carmelo Anthony’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer in regulation to tie it at 100, then on Kenyon Martin’s tip-in off an intentional missed free throw to make it 112-all with 3.6 seconds left in the OT.
