Morrison earns honor as WCC co-player

Gonzaga's Adam Morrison torched Portland for 42 points in a victory Saturday to help him earn co-player of the week. (The Spokesman-Review)

Gonzaga University junior Adam Morrison shared this week’s West Coast Conference men’s basketball player of the week award with Pepperdine senior Tashaan Forehan, the conference announced Tuesday.

The honor was the fifth of Morrison’s career. Morrison scored 30 of his game-high 42 points in the first half of GU’s 81-64 win over Portland last Saturday.

Lance Pecht of Whitworth was selected as the Northwest Conference men’s player of the week. Pecht had 41 points, 18 rebounds, four assists and three steals in two wins last week.

Football

Jon Dominguez has joined the University of Idaho as a midyear transfer after graduating from Fresno (Calif.) City College in December. Dominguez, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive lineman, had 10 sacks last season.

Idaho announced the completion of its 2006 non-conference schedule, adding a Sept. 16 home game with Idaho State.
