UI fans, get behind Akey

Nothing will be gained by name-calling now that Dennis Erickson has left the University of Idaho for Arizona State. Dennis will find he is going to have to live with his downward spiral in the Pac-10.

But on the other hand, Rob Spear has done a masterful job of picking up the pieces of an impossible situation and giving a bright light to the Idaho Vandals. He couldn’t have found a better coach than Robb Akey of Washington State. He knows the area, the situation, the conference, and best of all, he knows the players (and) they really have confidence in him. It is remarkable that he will take hold of this group of men that have been dumped on and is willing to give them a new Idaho football team.

I think we all owe it to the administration and the coaching staff and the team to give them the same backing and enthusiasm that we gave the defector in 2006.
