Boys basketball : Vikings top Sehome

Nate Bligh scored a team-high seven points Friday, leading Coeur d’Alene to a 52-33 win over Sehome of Bellingham in the second round of the Gillette Energy Classic in Gillette, Wyo.

Brad Mitchell chipped in eight points for the Vikings, who built a 27-16 halftime lead and never looked back.

Coeur d’Alene (6-2) will play Cheyenne Central today at noon to decide third and fourth place.

Non-league

Nick Fromm scored 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds as Lake City beat Kamiakin (1-7) 54-35 in Moses Lake. Trent Bridges added 10 points and five assists for the Timberwolves (6-3), who jumped out to a 20-9 first quarter lead. … Micah Smith scored 13 points and Andrew Scott added 12 as Priest River edged host Deer Park 59-53. The Spartans (7-3) shot 9 of 18 from 3-point range to erase an eight-point first-quarter deficit. Kevin McNeil led all scorers with 22 points for the Stags (2-4). … At Spirit Lake, Riverside outscored host Timberlake (3-5) 19-3 in the first quarter and beat the Tigers 50-25. Josh Nyberg scored 12 points and Cody Stumph added 10 to lead the Rams (3-4).

A.J. Bennett scored a team-high 19 points and hit a few crucial free throws late in the game as Bonners Ferry sneaked past Tonasket 60-58 at the Freeman tournament. Ryan Winebark added 11 points for the Badgers, who outscored Tonasket 14-8 in the third period to erase a four-point halftime-deficit. Bonners Ferry (8-3) finished in third place.

Nate Bailey scored 16 points and Drew English added 14 points and nine rebounds as Rosalia beat St. Maries 61-49 at the Rosalia tournament. Kris Widman added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Spartans, who came out hot after halftime, outscoring the Lumberjacks 21-5 in the third quarter. Rosalia (4-3) will play Genessee today at 6 p.m. for the championship. St. Maries (2-4) and Colfax will play at 3 p.m. in the consolation game.

Jarod Gunning scored 18 points and Kyle Nelson chipped in 16 points, eight rebounds and five steals as Davenport (3-4) slid past Colton 53-50 at the Davenport tournament. Ryan Sparkman tallied 21 points to lead the Wildcats (2-5). … Also at the tournament, Columbia (Hunters) (1-7) topped Soap Lake 56-34.

Ronald Salas scored 22 points and Ed Wolfe added 14 points and seven rebounds as Lake Roosevelt routed Northport (2-6) 86-17 at the Lake Roosevelt tournament in Coulee Dam. Guy Payne added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Raiders. … Also at the tournament, Griffon Jones scored 18 points, guiding Cheney to a 47-40 win over Lapwai, Idaho. Mike Sprenger added 11 points for the Blackhawks (2-3), who will meet Lake Roosevelt for the championship today at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Zack Humphrey scored eight of his game-high 29 points in overtime as Shadle Park beat Mead 66-59 to join the Panthers in second place in the league standings. Anthony Brown added 21 points for the Highlanders (7-2), who converted 8 of 10 free throws in the overtime period. Brendan Ingebritsen scored 15 points to lead Mead (7-2). … Jared Karstetter scored a game-high 21 points and DeAngelo Casto chipped in 18 points and 12 rebounds as Ferris topped visiting Gonzaga Prep 65-57. Shawn Stockton added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Saxons (9-0, 9-0), who outscored the Bullpups 15-5 in the fourth quarter. Beau Azadganian scored 17 points and Travis Long added 14 to lead Gonzaga Prep (5-3). … Ryan Cornell scored 15 points and Andrew Pirttima and Trevor Wakem added 10 apiece as University beat host East Valley 71-58. Ryan Dixon added nine points for the Titans (3-7), who outscored the Knights 21-11 in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Emerson Fulton scored a game-high 25 points to lead East Valley (1-8). … Skylar Kliewer had 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, leading Lewis and Clark to a 58-51 win over visiting Rogers.
