Locally: Federico, Holtman win JBT doubles tourney

The Spokesman-Review

What looked like Chad and Kyle Carpenter’s day turned into the Mike Federico and Adam Holtman show at the Junior Bowlers Tour doubles tournament at Players & Spectators.

The Carpenters were dominant throughout the qualifying and carried the No. 1 seeding into the five-team playoffs.

But Federico and Holtman, who qualified No. 2, followed up a thrilling semfinal win with a 365-337 victory over the Carpenters to capture the championship.

In the semifinals, Federico finished with two strikes for a 434-433 win over Todd Benner and Evan Nash, who placed third. Nick Schmehl and Ryan Connor were fourth. Shane Weitensteiner and Jesse Rohrback placed fifth after Rohrback left before the playoffs due to an injury.

Benner had high game, a 279. Lacey Kerr was high for the girls with a 201.

Next JBT is Jan. 7 at Valley Bowl.

Joining Mellor and Tikker on the first all-tournament team was Sadie Lazzarini of Colfax. On the second team were Megan Teade and Abby Bruya of Colfax, Val Gilroy and Lindsay Jelke of Lakeside and Jordan Monasmith of sixth-place Chewelah. Jordan Harazin of Colfax, Kia Gibson of Lakeside and Jenny Polm of Chewelah were honorable mention.
