Churches plan morning, evening Christmas Eve services

Sunday is a big day, with most churches offering morning worship services in addition to holding Christmas Eve services.

•The children of Veradale United Church of Christ will present their Christmas pageant “The True Story of Christmas” during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. The church also will host a Christmas Eve service at 7:30 p.m. that will include poetry, carols and candles. The church is at 611 N. Progress Road.

•Millwood Presbyterian is altering its Sunday worship schedule to offer one worship service at 10 a.m. Three evening Christmas Eve services also will be held. A family service will begin at 6 p.m., a traditional service at 8 and a Communion service with harp music at 11. A bell choir concert will begin at 7:30 p.m., between services.

The church is at 3223 N. Marguerite Road.

•Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, will offer a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

•Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway Ave., will host Christmas Eve services at 9:15 a.m. and 5 p.m.

•A candlelight Christmas Eve service will begin at 8 p.m. Sunday at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Road.

•Christmas Eve services will begin at 6 and 9 p.m. Sunday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan Road.

•Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines Road, will host Christmas Eve services at 7 and 10 p.m.

•The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, 15515 E. 20th Ave., will host a combined family service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. A Christmas Eve service will be at 6 p.m.

•The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will have a combined worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday. The children’s choir will perform at the 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service, which will be followed by a candlelight Christmas Eve service at 10.

The church will host a service at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day followed by a brunch. The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave.

•St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church will offer Christmas Eve Masses at 5 p.m. and midnight Sunday. A Mass also will be held on Christmas Day at 9 a.m. The church is at 503 N. Walnut Road.

•Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines Road, will host Christmas Eve services at 6:30 and 9 p.m.

• Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway Ave., will have a combined worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The church also will host a candlelight Christmas Eve family service at 5 p.m., with an additional service at 8.

•Peace Lutheran Church pulls out the stops for its Christmas Eve service, which will include carols, candle, Communion, bells and a birthday cake for Jesus. The service begins at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The church is at 4124 N. Harvard Road.

•The children of Spokane Valley United Methodist Church will tell the Christmas story during a family Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. Sunday. A contemporary service with drama and dance will follow at 7, and a traditional service will begin at 10.

The church is at 115 N. Raymond Road.

•Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye, will have a Christmas story drama during the 5 p.m. family Christmas Eve service. The choir will perform during the traditional candlelight service following at 7.
