The Spokesman-Review

Gonzaga Bulldogs

Tonight: vs. Duke at Madison Square Garden in New York, 6. (ESPN2).

Outlook: Gonzaga, which hasn’t lost back-to-back games in the same season since December 2002, will try to bounce back from last Saturday’s 96-83 loss to Georgia against a Duke team that is ranked No. 6. The young, but immensely talented, Blue Devils (10-1), who start two freshmen and two sophomores, are led by junior guard DeMarcus Nelson, who is averaging just more than 15 points per game.

WSU Cougars

Tonight: San Diego State in Seattle, 7:30 (FSN)

Outlook: The Cougars will get one of their toughest tests of the season as they try to cap off the non-conference portion of their schedule with just one loss. The Cougars (10-1) are off to their best start in more than a decade and a win would give them that much more momentum in their week off before playing No. 1 UCLA on the road. The Aztecs feature guard Brandon Heath, an NBA prospect, and are 10-2 on the season. This is the second year WSU has played in KeyArena, having dominated Utah there last season.

EWU Eagles

Tonight: Idaho, 7:05.

Outlook: Idaho (1-9) represents the Eagles’ final non-conference foe of the regular season before Big Sky Conference play begins next week. EWU (5-6) is awaiting the healthy return of leading scorer Rodney Stuckey (back spasms) and Marcus Hinton (foot). Junior college transfer Darin Nagle pumped in 20 points in his Vandals debut Saturday against North Dakota State.

Idaho Vandals

Tonight: at Eastern Washington, 7:05

Outlook: The Vandals (1-9) have dropped eight straight entering tonight’s date with the Eagles (5-6), losers of two in a row. Idaho hopes to have the services of leading scorer Keoni Watson, who sprained his ankle Saturday. Idaho leads the series 37-10, but fell to EWU 68-55 last season.
