Army Pvt. Ian Bergevin, a 2005 graduate of East Valley High School, is the son of Brian and Claire Bergevin of Newman Lake.
Army National Guard Pvt. James Talarico is the son of Darlene Talarico of Spokane.

Air Force Airman Sarah Allen is a 2006 graduate of Ferris High School.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Darrin Bates is the son of Lionel and Peggy Bates of Warden, Wash.
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Kaythryn Connolley, the daughter of Kim Connolley of Tum Tum, Wash., is a 2006 graduate of Lakeside High School.
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Lori Swan, the daughter of Laura Swan of Chattaroy, is a 2001 graduate of Jenkins High School in Chewelah, Wash.
“Several area students recently were awarded $2,000 Presidential Scholarship for the 2006-07 academic year at Eastern Washington University. The award is given to incoming freshman who hold a grade-point average of 3.8 or higher.
Ashley Belcher, the daughter of Lorne and Dorinda Belcher of Spokane, is a 2006 graduate of West Valley High School.
Jessica Collins, a 2006 graduate of Central Valley High School, is the daughter of Denise Collins of Spokane Valley.
Kara Crisp, a 2006 graduate of University High School, is the daughter of Jim and Shelly Crisp of Spokane.
Tiffany Hansen, the daughter of Jim and Lori Hansen of Spokane, is a 2006 graduate of North Central High School.
Rachel Lessard, a 2006 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the daughter of Ray Lessard of Medical Lake.
Kristina Ries, the daughter of Barb Ries of Spokane, is a 2006 graduate of Ferris High School.
“Julia Piaskowski recently earned a Master of Science degree in crop science from Washington State University. Piaskowski, a 1997 graduate of Gonzaga Prep, holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from the University of Idaho. She is the daughter of Tina and Mark Piaskowski of Post Falls.
“The Bonners Ferry Rotary Club recently presented Dean Satchwell with the Service Above Self award. Once a year the award is given to a nonmember in the community who has worked to better the community. Satchwell volunteers with the Boundary County Office of Emergency Management and is the chairman of the local emergency planning committee.

“ Rachel Wickham of Harrison, Idaho, was recently awarded a $600 Min West Scholarship. The award is given by the Community United Methodist Church in honor of the Rev. Elmer and Minnie West. Wickham is a registered nursing student at North Idaho College.
