Lowe named Idaho transportation director

From Staff Reports The Spokesman-Review

BOISE – Pamela Lowe was named Idaho’s new state transportation director by the Idaho Transportation Board on Thursday.

Lowe, who has served as deputy director since September, has been with the department since 1993 and has more than 25 years of engineering experience. She was the state’s first female district engineer when she was named to that post in 2000, supervising a staff of 200 engineers and technicians in southwestern Idaho. In 2004, she was promoted to administrator of the Department of Motor Vehicles.

“Pam brings a wealth of experience to the director’s position, having worked in the private sector, with the Federal Highway Administration, the Arizona Department of Transportation and key positions within ITD,” said ITD Board Chairman Frank Bruneel. “We have great faith and confidence in her and are pleased that she is already familiar with the direction and vision of the board.”

Lowe takes over from interim director Dwight Bower, who has filled in since the departure of former director Dave Ekern in September. Lowe will start her new job Jan. 16.
