Girls basketball

Camille Reynolds scored 18 points, including a layup at the buzzer to force overtime, and Lakeland defeated host West Valley 57-52 Wednesday night in non-league play. Ali Whitted of the Hawks (2-3) added 15 points and 16 rebounds, including 12 on the offensive end. Melissa Mauro totaled 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles (1-2). The teams combined for 57 turnovers, including 30 by Lakeland. … Elsewhere, Shea Spicer and Jordan Rheingans combined for 25 points as Riverside (1-1) posted a 50-41 win at Northwest Christian (0-1).

Wrestling

Sophomore Teddy Fernau (171) rallied from a 10-point deficit and posted a third-round pin as Mt. Spokane defeated visiting Ferris 47-30 in a Greater Spokane League opener. Fernau’s pin gave the Wildcats a 41-30 lead with one match left. … In other openers, Tanner Teeples (119) and Chase Ferrozzo (125) had back-to-back pins to lead Central Valley to a 48-23 win over visiting Gonzaga Prep. Kevin Healy (130) registered a 9-1 major decision for G-Prep. … Brian Owen notched a 29-second pin while helping University to a 38-24 win at Shadle Park. U-Hi’s Levi Wilson (275) won 7-3 after trailing 2-1 after two periods. … East Valley’s meet at Lewis and Clark was postponed because LC was evacuated early in the afternoon after a false bomb threat. Boys basketball

Chase Ramey finished with 18 points and four steals while leading Northwest Christian to a 66-55 non-league win over visiting Riverside (1-1). Derek Iranon added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Crusaders (1-0). … Elsewhere, Austin Folnagy scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and added 15 rebounds to carry Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy (3-1) to a 69-53 win over visiting St. Michael’s. Chris Shaw added seven assists and Eli Francovich eight rebounds for the Panthers. Ben Czapla scored 22 for the Warriors (2-2).

Gymnastics

Jenny Dimmler won the balance beam (8.75 points) and vault (8.65) to help Central Valley to the team title during a four-way Greater Spokane League meet at Ferris. CV had three in the top five all-around, led by runner-up Maria Alderman’s 31.875. Shadle Park’s Kali Young won the uneven bars (8.225) and floor exercise (8.35) on the way to the all-around title (32.725).
