CVSD seeks voter feedback

The Spokesman-Review

An online survey is gathering feedback from the community about why Central Valley School District’s $75.7 million construction bond failed to receive the 60 percent approval needed to pass on Nov. 7.

The Spokane County Elections Office certified the election results earlier this week, reporting 54 percent voter approval of the bond measure.

The confidential online survey asks nine questions designed to give the district feedback from voters.

In addition to asking if the respondent voted in the bond election, the survey asks for reasons why the bond failed and gives community members an opportunity to make suggestions to the school board how to best address the district’s ongoing facility issues.

The survey results, along with additional feedback gathered from principals and campaign volunteers, will be presented to the school board in January.

The bond would have funded the construction of two new schools to serve the growing eastern portion of the district, modernize three elementary schools and provide upgrades to six additional school buildings.

This is the third time in three years that CV voters have rejected construction bond proposals.
