Ticket policy inane
The men’s NCAA basketball tournament will be played in the Spokane Arena in March 2007.
The event is being sponsored by Washington State University. The athletic directors at WSU, along with the folks at the Arena, have decided anyone who wants to purchase a ticket for this event must also purchase a ticket for the 2008 NCAA women’s basketball tournament. This is the most ludicrous, ridiculous ticket policy I have ever seen.
If I want to buy an apple in a Spokane or Pullman grocery store, do I also have to buy a lemon? If I want a steak, do I also have to purchase a package of hot dogs?
Did the Gonzaga fans I saw at Salt Lake City this year have to buy tickets for any other event?
The associate athletic director at WSU I spoke with mentioned this policy was also in place the last time the NCAA tournament was in Spokane.
Speaking for myself and many others, I would ask that WSU and Spokane officials please not bid on any future tournaments. Your ticket policy borders on the illegal. It clearly crosses the line of arrogance and common sense.
