Morrison persevered

The Spokesman-Review

It amazes me how Danny Shea (“Some fans wear blinders,” April 16) can criticize Adam Morrison if he watched all of Gonzaga’s games.

Adam is a good rebounder, excellent passer, a scoring machine and not as bad a defender as has been suggested.

Obviously, Shea doesn’t watch the play away from the ball as Adam is body-checked, hacked, tripped and literally mugged to try and deny him the ball. Despite all that, he is the scoring leader in the nation. He managed to do this playing some of the best teams in the nation while shooting a better percentage from the 3-point line than the darling of the East, J.J. Redick.

As far as Adam trash-talking, maybe we should eliminate half of college and NBA players, including former great Larry Bird, the biggest mouth of all.

Letter writers like Shea, Larry Smith (“Morrison skill limited,” April 9) and Scott Heyamoto (“Morrison lacks class,” April 2) wouldn’t know talent if it hit them in the face.
