Books still bring her glowers

Here’s one sure way to incite Barbra Streisand‘s wrath: Write a book about her.

Christopher Anderson has learned that with his recently published biography, “Barbra: The Way She Is.”

On her Web site, Streisand issued a response titled “Does the Truth Matter These Days?”

“Who is the person described in this book?” she asks. “From what has been told to me, certainly not anyone I know. This stereotypic image bears little resemblance to me or anything about me.”

Streisand adds: “Maybe it’s finally time for an AUTHORIZED biography.”

“Barbra: The Way She Is” adds to the stream of unauthorized biographies about Streisand. In his list of sources, Anderson includes 27 biographies and other books relating to Streisand.

He says he wasn’t surprised by her reaction: “She made a statement years ago, ‘If God wrote my biography, I wouldn’t like it.’ “

Putting the ‘E’ in crazy

Amy Fisher says she was strung out on the club drug Ecstasy when she shot her boyfriend’s wife in the face in 1992.

“I was using Ecstasy, a lot of Ecstasy,” Fisher, nicknamed the “Long Island Lolita,” told “Entertainment Tonight” on Thursday. “I had no control.”

Fisher was 16 when she visited the home of her much-older lover, Joey Buttafuoco, a car mechanic on New York’s Long Island, and shot his wife, Mary Jo, as she answered the door.

The drug made her feel “stronger and confident,” she says.

“Believe me, rational people don’t go to do something like that in the middle of the day,” says Fisher. “It’s just insane.”

Stone cold liars

Sharon Stone has accepted an undisclosed amount of libel damages from a British newspaper that alleged she had left her 4-year-old son in a car for more than two hours while dining at a London restaurant with a “mystery male companion.”

A lawyer for the Daily Mail said the newspaper now accepted that the allegation was untrue, and apologized to Stone for the distress and embarrassment it had caused.

Stone’s attorney said she planned to donate the damages to charity.

Oh, sort of a yuk-off

It’s no joke – stand-up comedian Yakov Smirnoff is getting an Ivy League graduate degree in psychology.

Smirnoff, who is also working on a new humor-and-self-help book titled “Living Happily Ever Laughter,” is finishing up his master’s degree in positive psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Ukranian-born comic says he plans to use his newfound knowledge in his act and his books to create what he calls the “Age of Enlaughterment” – a period when love and laughter heal psychic scars.
