Ice Age Floods Institute – The Cheney Palouse Chapter of the Institute will host Lloyd Stoess speaking on the Ice Age floods at the south end of the Cheney Palouse Scabland Tract, 6:30 p.m. in Room 307 of the Science Building on EWU’s Cheney campus; 559-5818.

Geology lecture series – David Hodell of the University of Florida will speak on “Climate and Cultural History of the Maya Lowlands: Were They Related?” 7 p.m. at the SCC Lair Student Center, 1810 N. Greene.

Iraq War lecture – Whitworth College hosts Lindy Scott, associate professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Wheaton College, speaking on “The War in Iraq: A Christian Perspective from Latin America,” 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the Eric Johnston Center on the Whitworth campus, 300 W. Washington State Quilters – The Spokane Chapter meets at 1 and 7 p.m. Thursday at the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute Commons, 400 W. Randolph Road. A social time begins 30 minutes before each meeting. $7 for nonmembers; 466-5777.

Arbor Day celebration – The annual celebration is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Finch Arboretum at Sunset Highway and F Street. Free seedlings will be handed out, and there will be free family activities, rain or shine; 624-4832.

Concordia Choir Spring Concert – The German-American Society choir will be accompanied by guest performers the Melody Choir of Austria, 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Deutsches Haus, 25 W. Third.
