Four superintendent finalists chosen
Lake Pend Oreille School District has chosen four finalists in the search to replace retiring Superintendent Mark Berryhill.
The candidates will be in the Sandpoint area Thursday and Friday for interviews with the school board and to meet with the public.
They are Patrick Charlton, principal of Century High School in Pocatello; Dominic Cvitanich, assistant superintendent for student learning and teaching at Puyallup schools in Western Washington; Michael Green, superintendent of Nine Mile Falls schools north of Spokane; and Jim Norton, superintendent of Parma schools in southwest Idaho.
People interested in giving written input about the candidates may attend any of the following events: a forum at Farmin-Stidwell School on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m.; a reception at the corporate office of Coldwater Creek in Kootenai on Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.; a lunch at Clark Fork Junior-Senior High School on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Board members will interview the candidates on Thursday and deliberate Friday afternoon.
Board vice chairwoman Mindy Cameron hopes to make a decision at that time or no later than early next week.
Kootenai County
Sale to benefit victim’s family
The Kootenai County 4-H Program is planning a garage sale to benefit the Wright family of Rathdrum after a head-on automobile collision Friday killed Kerriann Wright, 16, and injured her father and two brothers.
The sale will be May 6 and 7 at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds.
Anyone wanting to contribute clothing, household goods, tools, equipment or other items to the sale can drop off donations May 3 and 4 at the fairgrounds, Building 8.
The fairgrounds will accept donations May 3 from 3 to 6 p.m. and May 4 from 3 to 5 p.m.
All proceeds will go directly to the Wright family. The 4-H program will give any unsold donations to Hospice.
For more information, contact Don Buss at (208) 755-8944 or Jim Wilson at (208) 446-1680.
People who want to make a financial contribution to the family can do so at Panhandle State Bank, where the account “Donna Osborne for the Benefit of Wright Family” has been established.
