Feast of Pascha Celebration - the all-night celebration begins today at 11:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 4718 E. Horsehaven Ave., Post Falls.

During the celebration, all lights will be extinguished as participants gather quietly in anticipation of the symbolic resurrection of Christ. One lone flame will emerge from behind the altar to spread light from candle to candle. The singing congregation will then circle the church three times before returning to the sanctuary to celebrate.

The Feast of Pascha falls one week later than Easter because Orthodox Christians celebrate on the first Sunday after the first full-moon after the vernal equinox based on the Julian calendar. This celebration of resurrection always follows the seventh day of Passover in accordance with accounts from the Gospels. For information, contact the church at 777-1128.
