The Spokesman-Review

Giants 9, Diamondbacks 7: At Phoenix, Mark Sweeney drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the go-ahead run and Pedro Feliz added a two-run double in the ninth to lead San Francisco past Arizona after Barry Bonds was intentionally walked as a pinch hitter to load the bases.

Nationals 10, Phillies 4: At Philadelphia, Frank Robinson became the 53rd manager to reach the milestone of 1,000 wins, with Nick Johnson hitting a pair of homers in Washington’s win. The 70-year-old Robinson is 1,000-1,095 in 16 seasons with Cleveland, San Francisco, Baltimore and Montreal-Washington.

Reds 12, Brewers 8: At Milwaukee, Brandon Phillips hit his first grand slam and added another shot for his first two-homer game to help Cincinnati. Trailing 6-2, the Reds scored 10 straight runs, including five in the sixth when Phillips hit his slam.

Mets 7, Padres 2: At San Diego, Julio Franco’s record homer – the oldest man in history to hit one – keyed a sixth-run eighth as New York rallied for a win over San Diego.
