‘Mikado’ being staged at Panida
Britain’s Carl Rosa Opera Co. presents its historically authentic version of “The Mikado” on Friday at Sandpoint’s Panida Theater.
The elaborate performance features faithful re-creations of the costumes, props and sets used in the original 1885 production of the Gilbert & Sullivan classic.
Carl Rosa Opera, a touring company of 65 singers, musicians and technicians, says it aims to “bridge the perceived gap between traditional Grand Opera and popular music.”
Friday’s performance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28 for adults ($22.50 for Pend Oreille Arts Council members), $12 for youths 18 and under; call (208) 263-6139.
